چکیده

Active study has recently been conducted on Non-intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) system to construct a cost-efficient household energy management framework. The conventional method, however, is not easily applicable to appliances that exhibit a complex operating mode or multiple states of power consumption. In this paper, we propose a NILM system that considers especially multiple power states of appliance. The proposed system profiles the power state of appliances based on the distribution of the real power and apparent power of the device. We utilize the state transition probability between power states, and use Hidden Markov model (HMM) for power state recognition.

Non-Intrusive Appliances Load Monitoring System Using Neural Networks

A non-intrusive appliances load monitoring system has been developed to ascertain the behavior of each electrical appliance in a household by disaggregating the total household load demand. This system does not need to intrude into a house when metering power consumption of each appliance. Therefore, the system has significant cost advantages and is less troublesome to the customers. This paper...

An efficient and inexpensive method for activity recognition within a smart home based on load signatures of appliances

With the increasing demand in terms of non-intrusive appliance load monitoring (NIALM), more and more smart meters and smart analyzers were released on the market to extract well-defined load signatures and/or for performing autonomously the various monitoring operations as needed. Nevertheless, this hardware proves to be very expensive and not necessarily accessible to all. Moreover, most appl...

Non-Intrusive Demand Monitoring and Load Identification for Energy Management Systems Based on TransientFeature Analyses

Energy management systems strive to use energy resources efficiently, save energy, and reduce carbon output. This study proposes transient feature analyses of the transient response time and transient energy on the power signatures of non-intrusive demand monitoring and load identification to detect the power demand and load operation. This study uses the wavelet transform (WT) of the time-freq...

Towards Bridging the Gap Between the Smart Grid and Smart Energy Consumption

Smart meters report power usage at 15 minute intervals and, compared to monthly power bills, provide the users with a much finer resolution time series of energy usage. However, apart from identifying times of peak energy usage, these smart meters provide little actionable data for the user in terms of reducing their power costs. Our research involves the development of an intelligent metering ...
